If you're trying to install an eSIM in the UK and your eSIM’s ICCID starts with 89444, you may see the error message: “Unable to Activate eSIM”
Please note that issue only affects:
- eSIMs with ICCIDs starting 89444
- Apple devices
- For the installations done within the UK (or any country not in the network coverage list for profile in your rate sheet)
This is a known issue, and we’re actively working with Apple to resolve it.
Good news – your eSIM is likely installed!
Despite the error, the eSIM is most likely installed successfully on your device.
To check:
- Go to Settings
- Tap Mobile Service (or Mobile Data > SIMs)
- See if the eSIM appears in the list
If the eSIM is listed, you're good to go! You can continue using it as planned.
How to avoid this error
To prevent seeing this error message, we recommend:
- Installing your eSIM once you arrive at your destination.
- Or installing it from a location outside the UK (or any country not in the network coverage list for profile in your rate sheet)
