Note: Both the existing and the new recurring monthly plans can be ordered during the transition period. Existing plans will be deprecated in the coming months - see "How long can I keep ordering the existing plans?" below.
We have rebuilt how recurring billing works for UK MVNO monthly plans. The new plans will be available from 30th September 2026.
What’s new
The updated plans assign a new bundle to the eSIM each month instead of refreshing the entitlements on the same bundle. This change means you’ll get a new order ID each month for the new bundle assigned.
With the new plans, it’s much easier to stop renewals without cutting off service, set a fixed number of renewals up front, and see exactly how many times a plan has been renewed.
When you switch to the new bundle logic, you’ll need to check how your integration is set up to make sure nothing breaks.
What's changed at a glance
| Existing plans | New plans | |
| Monthly renewal | One bundle where entitlements refresh each month. One eSIM, one bundle, one order ID. | A fresh bundle is assigned each month with the monthly entitlements. One eSIM and an order ID for each month your customer is subscribed. |
| Stopping a plan | Revoking the bundle is the only way and it takes effect immediately.
| Stop renewals, and the plan will run to its expiry date. Reactivate the plan before it expires if you change your mind. No scheduling needed to ensure a plan runs until the end of the billing period. Easier reactivation if you need to. |
| Fixed contract lengths (if applicable) | Plans will run indefinitely unless you build an end date into your workflows. Requires dev resources to limit plan lengths. | You can set the number of renewals when you order, extend this or leave it as a rolling contract. You get more control over plan lengths. |
| Renewal history | Not itemised. Something you need to keep track of. | Full history of every renewal against the plan. Full visibility of all renewals now available from the eSIM Go platform. |
| Credit visibility | - | An estimate of how long your balance will cover renewals |
How renewals work
With the existing plans, the same plan stays on the eSIM and its entitlements are topped back up every month.
With the new plans, a new bundle is assigned to the eSIM automatically at the start of each renewal period. Managing it this way means it’s easier to stop and restart plans and keep track of renewals.
Stopping renewals without ending service
Previously, the only way to end a recurring plan was to revoke it - and a revoke takes effect immediately, so the end user loses their remaining data straight away or you need to set up a schedule to revoke on a certain date.
With the new plans you can stop renewals instead. The current plan continues to run until its expiry date and simply does not renew again - so your customer keeps what they have already paid for.
Setting a number of renewals
When you order a new recurring plan, you can set how many times it should renew.
This is useful for fixed-term contracts. For example, If you have a 12-month contract with the end-user, you can set the renewal count when you order and the plan stops on its own at the end of the term - you no longer need to track the end date and intervene manually.
Renewal history and credit forecasting
You can now see a detailed history showing how many renewals have taken place and when, so you can reconcile charges against a specific eSIM from the eSIM Go platform.
You will also see an approximate calculation of how many days your current credit balance is sufficient to keep renewing. Treat this as a guide rather than a guarantee - it is based on your renewals as they stand today, and it will change as you add or stop plans.
Please note, we deduct the next billing cycle charge 20 mins before the plan renews, if you decide to stop renewing after we deduct the charge, it will be revoked back to your credit.
Can I move my existing plans onto the new ones?
Existing recurring plans cannot be converted to the new plans. To switch your customers to the new plans, you need to revoke the old plan and assign a new one using the new moniker on the billing date. We will provide new monikers and the list of dependencies between old and new ones.
Even though there is some work involved to switch, we would still encourage you to move your customers to the new plans. The short term pain of switching is worth it for what the new plans unlock in the longer term -added flexibility around renewals, contract lengths and reporting.
How long can I keep ordering the existing plans?
Both types of plan will be available for a period, which gives you time to update your integration with the new monikers.
- Starting from 30.09.2026 - Both plans will be available to order. We recommend you issue the new plans to any new customers and carry out the work to switch your existing customers to the new plans as soon as possible.
- In the coming months - The old plans will be removed from sale so you won’t be able to order any more of them. The date for deprecation is to be confirmed, you will receive an email before they are removed.
After deprecation - Any existing plan that is already assigned to an eSIM, or held in your inventory, will work until it is revoked. Nothing is switched off underneath you.
What you need to do
- Update your ordering integration to use the new monikers after release date (30.09.2026) - Mandatory
- Switch old plans to new ones. We recommend to schedule it before old plan next renewal, this way renewal date and time wouldn't change - recommended, but optional.
