Preventing Fraudulent Orders
Since eSIMs aren't physical products it can be difficult to set parameters compared to other eCommerce products but here are some tips we've shared with other partners to help you limit fraudulent orders:
- Set a spam CAPTCHA in your ordering flow. This can help eliminate bots, although a person would still be able to get past this stage.
- Add two factor authentication (2FA) for your customers to confirm their identity.
- Fraudulent orders often involve several different cards within close succession. Consider adding a limit to the number of cards that can be used during the checkout.
- Similarly, consider setting a limit on the number of orders one account can place within a short space of time. Most customers tend to order one eSIM at a time so setting an hourly limit can help.
- Ensure that accounts have to be verified first before an order can be placed, in other words remove the ability to 'check out as guest'. This additional step can be an effective deterrent.
- Have a system in place that flags fraudulent orders before processing the order, although this can prove to be quite manual.
Please note that we are unable to provide refunds for fraudulent transactions where the offence has been committed on the Partner platform. This is in line with section 5.8 of our T&Cs that can be found here.
