1. How long is the validity period of an eSIM?
Each eSIM is valid for 365 days.
2. When does an eSIM’s 365 days validation start?
Is this the time it is bought / installed / first applied / or when the bundle starts being used?
The 365 day expiry time starts when assigned to a bundle. This refreshes every time a new bundle is applied to an ICCID.
3. Does the eSIM’s 365 validation period reset at every bundle top up?
Yes.
4. How do you suggest checking the eSIM expiry date with minimal requests to the API?
You can keep a log of your bundles as you assign them, then add 12 months to this assignment date, to create a confirmed record of your bundle expiry dates.
5. Does an ‘Access denied’ message mean an eSIM’s validation period has expired?
Yes an eSIM will no longer be assigned to your organisation once it has expired. If called it would return an ‘access denied’ message using the API.
6. What will be the status of the eSIM be once it has expired?
A bundle without 12 months of activity will appear as ‘lapsed’.
If searching in the Portal using an ICCID the bundle will either appear as ‘lapsed’ or will no longer be visible to search, depending on the upstream provider and routing of the last assigned bundle.
